God’s Amazing Love

Hey guys! So it’s been awhile since I last posted. My bad 🙂 just been really busy but I worked on this the last week so enjoy! …Plus I have something else in the works… I’ll talk about that at the end.

So it is obviously Good Friday and we have Easter coming up on Sunday. So I was just going through the whole story these last few weeks from the triumphant Palm Sunday entrance to the Last Supper to the death of Jesus on the cross and the wonderful day of Easter where he was resurrected! The one theme that stuck out to me this year was God’s love. There is NOTHING else in the world that can describe true love more than when God gave up his only son for us. Just think about that for a second… or two… or more haha. Seriously though, it’s still pretty amazing every time I think about it even though I think about it so often.

First thing to think about is that to love you must be a servant to others. At the Last Supper, Jesus started right off the bat by washing his disciple’s feet. Remember, in those days people wore sandals so their feet were pretty stinky (kinda like mine after a soccer game lol) so washing the feet was left to the servant because it was a disgusting job. So the disciples were kinda like… we’re supposed to be the ones following… why is he washing our feet??? Peter was the only one of them who did anything and… [Peter declared, “Never at any time will you wash my feet!” John 13:8a]. [“If I do not wash your feet,” Jesus answered, “you will no longer be my disciple.” John 13:8b]

So some of you guys might be like whoa there Jesus why are you getting all upset at Peter just because he didn’t want you to wash his feet? You see, Jesus was just trying to communicate to Peter that if you aren’t a servant, then you aren’t a good leader. If you truly love someone or something then you will show that by being a servant. The lady in charge of my youth group is an absolutely amazing example when it comes to this. Wow. Can’t really describe how much she does for everyone in the group. She works to make our events, make sure that everyone is working well together in a group and she really cares about every single person. This is my second year as a small group leader and she has been such a great help to me and all the other small group leaders. I think she has already filled out at least 3 or 4 scholarship recommendations for me lol and done SOO much more! But the point is if you don’t have the mentality of a servant in love; then you miss the whole point of love itself- which is to put the other person above yourself.

Another point is that when you love you should want to bring glory/ show your love to the person/thing that love is directed toward. When Jesus was on his way to Garden of Gethsemane he prayed to God. John 17:1, 6a and 26 say, “After Jesus finished saying this, he looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your Son, so that the Son may give glory to you”…I have made you known to those you gave me out of the world… I made you known to them, and I will continue to do so, in order that the love you have for me may be in them, and so that I also may be in them.” The main aim of Jesus coming down was to, yes, save us, but also to point us in the direction of the only one who can save us. God!!! If you read what Jesus said he was continually pointed to his Father and saying that everything he could do comes from God. So when it comes to God, everything we do should be for his glory and to show other people how awesome he is. When it comes to family, close friends, friends, acquaintances etc. just show them how much you care for them. Now you can’t be perfect (I’m definitely not haha) but most of the time you can make them feel good. Be really interested in their lives, what they enjoy, and congratulate them on their accomplishments. This is really good stuff… Jesus is the ultimate example of this 😀

There are so many ways that we see God’s love at work. It’s absolutely ridiculous how big far and wide his love is. We can’t love as good as he does no matter how hard we try because we are human; however, that’s why we keep climbing. Don’t be satisfied if you’re a “mature” Christian. You’ve come so far… so WHY would you stop? Keep trying to model God’s love in your life to everyone and in everything you do. Always remember, only God can truly satisfy you because everything comes from him. There are so many super-cool things in this world that he gives to us… all of them are wonderful 🙂 and I’m not saying don’t enjoy stuff lol. I’m just saying make sure Jesus stays where he belongs… numero uno 🙂 Just remember to always strive to do your best to mirror his love to an unbelieving world and love everyone you know with his love!!!!!!

God loves you more than anyone else ever can 🙂

P.S. *SPOILER ALERT* So I’m working on this super epic blog post that I’m really excited about… and it comes out in a little over a week. I’ll probably post whatever God puts on my heart next week but there’s A LOT of work going into this epic one… thus the fewer posts lately. Get excited lol

God-Inspired Patterns

There are many ways to stick with God through your week but I’ll just share some of mine. God has given this schedule to me and I just want to share it because it has helped me in my walk with him so much! I’m not boasting of my own works but I’m boasting of what Christ has done through me (like Paul said). NONE of this came through my own ideas but only what God has presented to me in order to mold me more into his image 🙂

#1 Bible Reading

There are so many proper ways to do this and so many amazing places to read out of the Bible! The way I do it is that when I wake up the first thing I grab is my Bible. Personally, it’s just easier for me to start my day with God or else I get so busy throughout the day I let it slide. I read a chapter a day from a pre-picked Old Testament book (almost done with Ezekiel… chapter 44 lol) and a pre-picked New Testament book (going through Romans right now). The one thing that doesn’t change is that I ALWAYS read a chapter from Proverbs according to what day of the month it is. There is SOO much wisdom in the Proverbs it’s ridiculous haha! If you haven’t I would highly suggest reading it and even more highly suggest reading it everyday 🙂 I have an app on my smartphone and while I’m at school I’ll read the verse of the day the app has. I’ll just dwell on that for 5-10 minutes. When I go to bed I read a Psalm. I just go all the way through the Psalms and once I reach the end (150) I start again. Soaking in the Psalms is amazing. True praise to God are in those chapters!

#2 Prayer

I tend to pray a short and sweet prayer right after my devos because I’m usually hurrying off to school. Just a general prayer that God will bless my day and the day of everybody I know 🙂 … on the way to school I listen to mostly Christian worship songs mixed with Christian Pop/Rock. That way my day is started off and I’m ready to represent my God everywhere I go! Some time during the day I find a good breaking point for my prayer requests prayer. I pray for my family, closest friends, small group and whatever else God brings on my heart 🙂 My favorite part of the day is when I go to bed. I literally just chat with God about whatever is up in my life… and he gives answers. Never think that God will just ignore you and not give you an answer. He will say yes, no, and wait for my timing. He will bring you understanding of a situation on HIS timing; just be patient and wait for his word 🙂

#3 Accountability Partner

Not everyone needs an accountability partner, but it is SUCH a help for anybody. Please don’t think I’m lecturing to people that you must have an accountability partner or you aren’t a strong Christian if you don’t have one. You don’t need one but I think it would be a very wise decision. Me and my current accountability partner have been meeting for about 1 1/2 months. He has been a GOD-SEND for me. I’ve known the guy for about six years but I’ve been amazed at how much we’ve discovered about each other once we became accountablity partners. It’s kinda funny that once we became accountability partners we figured out we have so many things in common. We struggle with many of the same issues and we’ve been able to help each other out so much. If you’re a newer Christian I suggest pairing yourself up with a more mature Christian for awhile so that they can assist you in growing in your faith. While God is the true person who grows your faith he can work through a strong Christian more than another new Christian. Once you’ve been a Christian for awhile you should pair yourself up with a Christian at about your “Christ maturity” level. I’ve had multiple accountability partners but they were all above or below where I was at with God. With my guy now (Fat Cow… inside joke) I feel like I’ve finally found somebody who at the same place with God that I am 🙂 and while he has always been one of my closest friends he is truly my best friend now! What a blessing he is 😀

#4 Random Stuff

I listen to a lot of Christian music just so I can soak God in. Not saying only listen to Christian music lol, I listen to non-Christian stuff as well 🙂 Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepson, Owl City etc. but I love Christian artists too. Thousand Foot Krutch- best band EVER. Tobymac, Red and so many others! Also, I write this blog. Most of the stuff on this blog is me just flowing and typing whatever God puts on my heart. Thus the poorly organized format lol. Love leading my small group at my youth group; those guys are beasts! We always last the longest… probably because we go off on a bunch of Godly rabbit trails hehe.

So to cap this off I’m gonna remind you this is just an example. You don’t have to follow this format exactly. You can make something completely on your own or take stuff from this. Or just make an awesome plan of your own lol. Like I said, I never made this plan and never came about from me. It was simply what God has slowly put me in the pattern of doing and it is what keeps my eyes on Him. Just talk to God everyday because He wants to talk to you AMAP (as much as possible lol) and he loves you a brickload. Just keep him #1 in your life and you’ll be good 😀

The Direction of Your Life

Life is a joy. On the other hand life is tough. There’s no way of going around it. No matter how many blessings that are scattered across your roadway through life there are always a lot of stuff that brings you to tears. If I had to count the times I cried this senior year I would literally be counting forever lol. Of course some of those were for joy, but most of them were because I just felt like everything was falling apart. With my experience in life I’ve discovered that the basic key when it comes to life is your direction. No matter what is happening in your life something you should always be paying attention to this key area. In the wide terms, where are you going? Are you going in a general direction that pleases your Heavenly father, who sacrificed everything for you, or are you drifting away from his grace? Obviously, none of us can completely go in a perfect direction. I would be the first to admit that I’m a flawed person like everyone else on the earth lol. I am very impatient, sometimes lazy and sometimes can really get ticked off if someone does enough to make me upset. So this is all in a general sense; it’s a direction we want to keep following.

The first thing is don’t be afraid to move the direction of your life according to the will of the Holy Spirit because God has control of everything last time I checked 😉

“The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken—who can change his plans?
When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”
Isaiah 14:27

Basically, if you know in your heart that the Holy Spirit is telling you to go one way, GO THAT WAY!! There are so many things that we don’t feel like giving up. One of the hardest things I had to do was give up playing high school soccer this spring. I had been training harder than anyone else trying out for the team and felt like I was hitting my stride at just the perfect time. About two weeks before the tryouts God clearly told me you’re not playing high school soccer. I will admit, I wasted a few nights of my life trying to argue with God. It didn’t work haha. Now, a month later, I know (for one) my grades would’ve slipped pretty far down if I had been playing soccer the last month or so plus I feel like God has something he wants me to do with the spare time I now have. Can’t wait to see what it is! That whole example just is a personal example of how I realized that the direction of my life needed to be changed according to God’s plans. Like I said before, please don’t think I’m setting myself up as a perfect Christian. I have had many times where I haven’t done what God said and it’s come back to bite me. So I’ve had experience on both sides of the coin. Just remember God is out there and he CARES about you SO much. No one in the universe wants you to be in a personal relationship with him more than God does and no one is more crazy in love with you than Him! Always remember God is in complete control of the situation and He wants what is best for you.

Another piece of the puzzle is you making the personal choice to keep a loose grip on your life and let God take control. It’s a choice that we all have to come to grips with at some point and it inevitably changes our lives because it is such an amazing decision. It is so easy to keep a death grip on your life and try to control everything. I mean sometimes I really do feel like the only person I can trust in the world IS myself, but God is slowly working on my heart and showing me that I can do nothing compared to what he can do. Just let go of it all!

Finally, you gotta make the effort to channel your life toward God. There are so many distractions in life and so many things that make us want to “forget” God for just a few moments. FIGHT through those moments with everything you have because those moments are the ones that determine the direction of your life. Life is made up of a lot of little steps, so every decision you make is important. God controls the direction of your life, but you make the decision whether to strive for the glory of God or just to stick in the norm. As one who sat in the norm for WAY too long, I think the answer is easy. Go big for God, shine so that the direction of your life is obvious to everyone that you know. Always be pushing to know God better because that will overflow into the rest of your life.

Just make a promise to God that you will make the direction of your life honoring to him your whole life. I got a long way to go. I’m only a senior in high school and I don’t know where in the world my life is going. But that’s the fun part. I get to sit back and see what God is going to do! I promise that I will do everything in my power to do everything that I can to honor my Lord the rest of my life. Anyone else in on this too?

I’ll end it with a beastly scripture. I love it when God knocks it out of the ballpark!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

I’ve had all th…

I’ve had all these plans piled up sky high
A thousand dreams on hold
And I don’t know why,
I got a front row seat
To the longest wait
And I just can’t see
Past the things I pray

But when I fix my eyes on all that You are
Then every doubt I feel
Deep in my heart
Grows strangely dim
All my worries fade
And fall to the ground
Cause when I seek Your face
And don’t look around
Any place I’m in
Grows strangely dim

Sometimes where I stand
On this narrow road
Is in a raging storm
Or a valley low
But oh

When I fix my eyes on all that You are
Then every doubt I feel
Deep in my heart
Grows strangely dim
All my worries fade
And fall to the ground
Cause when I seek Your face
And don’t look around
Any place I’m in
Grows strangely dim

I don’t know I don’t know
What tomorrow may hold
But I know, but I know
That You’re holding it all
So no matter what may come

I’m gonna fix my eyes on all that You are
‘Til every doubt I feel
Deep in my heart
Grows strangely dim
Let all my worries fade
And fall to the ground
I’m gonna seek Your face
And not look around
Til place I’m in
Grows strangely dim

Whenever I hear this song it makes me tingle because no matter what is going on in my life God will always be there for me. I fix my eyes on all that He is and suddenly I feel like I’m under a perfect umbrella because that is who He is. When I talk to Him my worries fade and I just feel at peace with my decisions because I know that’s what God wants me to do. Lately, I’ve just been under a BOATLOAD of stress… school, college, other stuff… and I’ve figured out a way to get through it all. It’s not really anything I do. All I do is make the choice  to just stay fixated on God because when I do that He takes everything for me and just helps me through life. My doubts just slowly disappear and at a point I just don’t worry about how it’s all going to end up.  I’m not perfect, I’m human and I’m a flawed person; however, God works through me and uses me. Most of the problems I have are the ones that I create myself but God fixes them all eventually. God has it in his hands and that’s the most wonderful thing. I just want to go to His heart because when I fix my eyes on ALL that He is everything deep in my heart grows strangely dim.

But the Lord is…

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3

There are those moments in life where we just feel weak. As a a high school senior in an advanced program at community college; the main time where this comes into play is finals week. I have only 10 days of normal classes left and then… FINALS. The one word that strikes fear into every student’s heart. I’ll admit even I feel a little bit of fear. Satan keeps telling me I’m not good enough and that I’m going to fail. The thing is I just need to trust God that everything will work out because he controls my destiny. Finals week is in His hands and I’m totally cool with that!
